WHERE ART & GEOGRAPHY MEET IN PERFECT BALANCE

Meet Brandon Wiebe, the artist behind Blackpoint Cartography.

What started as a whimsical treasure map drawn on a portion of craft paper from a job-site many years ago,

set forth a desire to create one of a kind, hand-drawn maps with pure attention to detail.

Upon deciding to pursue cartography, he has since been developing his own signature handcrafted style,

displaying a most exceptional example of where art and geography intersect in perfect balance.

From maps to postage stamps, banknotes to canvases, Brandon has devoted himself to depicting

the world through his work and continues to explore new endeavours in the cartographic arts.

From the Artist:

There’s a certain pride we all carry about the places we’re from, or a love for the places we’ve been

and that’s pleasing to us, knowing what pleases us most makes us happy. And for some of us,

it’s going back to those places. Blackpoint serves to give those places the recognition they deserve,

and a means to revisit through a visual representation.

Every map is drawn entirely by hand, pen and ink on paper with a high degree of detail in a vintage,

signature style that reflects the weight and history of the locations they represent. Each work,

a unique one of a kind original, executed with a specific purpose, a specific story behind it.

A story that carries a personal and emotional component every time it’s looked upon,

a conversation starter or simply a reminder of something that exists only in our memories.

My clients tend to be executives, collectors, and professionals who care deeply about the places

that shaped their careers, countries tied to a chapter of their life worth remembering.

They're not buying wall art. They're commissioning an artifact, something with provenance, and meaning.

Art in general is subjective, very personal. And for me cartography is a way to reach people on a deeper level

as far as art is concerned, connecting what’s already inside us, our perceptions and our experiences.
